Does the changing of external appearance that alters perception mean that the subject is trying to hide their identity or create a new one? Baudrillard states that in present times it is impossible to ‘become’ but that “We are obliged to change”. If this were true, it would mean that the subject would be unable to ‘create’ a new identity as that would conclude they have ‘become’. My aim is to show that identity can change, in an instance; but can never be set indefinitely, ones identity always regresses back to a version of the original.
